Our first patch was created when our company was born, showing a cartoon version of our hearse-like ambulance that was common at the time, and the First-Aid Cross, which was the accepted symbol of the first-aid service we provided.

Our second patch was created, sometime around 1987, to modernize our brand and show that our organization provides services to the entire Baltimore County community.

Our third patch was created as an update when our organization added a Heavy Rescue unit in 1989 and the organization began doing business as “Hereford EMS / Rescue.”

Our fourth patch was created when our organization began doing business as “Monkton Volunteer Emergency Medical Services” in 2024. The new patch is designed to show the green pastures of our unified Hereford Zone region, the Gunpowder River that centers our community, the Northern Central Railroad and a train that historically ran through downtown Monkton which is now the Torrey C. Brown Trail / NCR Trail, and the Hereford High School Bull mascot driving our train forward to the future, showing the pride we have in our community.
